[ Lion attacks Emus ]  A Mountain Lion attacked some Emus in AZ. This is another story outside my coverage area but again, it's worth the read b/c it's sad and not the normal behavior of a Lion. link In the article a biologist was quoted as saying; "... the attack on Carreiro's emus was typical of mountain lions, which often kill every animal trapped within a pen until there's nothing left moving to attract their attention." I have never heard this before! I have read many articles and spoke with many people that have seen Lions jump fences to attack one of many animals, never all. In fact I've read probably the most notable research paper ever written on Mtn Lion, from San Diego, and they too back up my comment. As I said, typically this is not Lion behavior and usually happens when I cat is sick (rabies) or simply this is just its' personality. If I recall correctly, there was a cat with a similar personality in a Southern state that was going around killing sheep but not eating them. Just killing them. I believe this cat in Arizona should be removed.

[ San Jose A's ]  There is an interesting read at Marine Layer's blog about "events revolving around the pursuit of a new ballpark for the Oakland Athletics." The possiblity of the A's moving to San Jose is great, but the location is even better! I'd love to have the A's here.

[ Update on Lompoc Mtn Lion ]  The mountain lion that attacked donkeys Monday night is not being tracked, nor will it be trapped by the state Department of Fish and Game, said game warden ... link

[ Mtn Lion news ]  I need to catchup on posting Mtn Lion news, as I've been out on my Honeymoon. :) A mountain lion prowling Santa Clara's Mount Madonna County Park has killed 18 deer, descendants of a pair donated by media mogul William ... link Phone call helps crack case of illegal mountain lion cubs... in early October when an anonymous caller to the Willits Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Mendocino County reported "a sick mountain lion kitten." ... link Mountain lion attacks donkeys in Lomboc. [ Married! ]   Catherine said yes on Sept 12th 2004, and this past Oct 21st I married her at Queen of Apostles, here in San Jose. It was a beautiful ceremony and fabulous reception! We just got back from our Honeymoon in Nuevo Vallarta. N. V. is about a 30min drive north of Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at the Grand Velas SPA Resort. The resort was excellent and the people very friendly. Basking together in the 90 degree weather while sipping beers and eating sushi pool side. What more could you ask for? Catherine, I love you!
