[ Lion attacks Emus ]
A Mountain Lion attacked some Emus in AZ. This is another story outside my coverage area but again, it's worth the read b/c it's sad and not the normal behavior of a Lion. link
In the article a biologist was quoted as saying; "... the attack on Carreiro's emus was typical of mountain lions, which often kill every animal trapped within a pen until there's nothing left moving to attract their attention." I have never heard this before! I have read many articles and spoke with many people that have seen Lions jump fences to attack one of many animals, never all. In fact I've read probably the most notable research paper ever written on Mtn Lion, from San Diego, and they too back up my comment.
As I said, typically this is not Lion behavior and usually happens when I cat is sick (rabies) or simply this is just its' personality. If I recall correctly, there was a cat with a similar personality in a Southern state that was going around killing sheep but not eating them. Just killing them. I believe this cat in Arizona should be removed.
