Father & 3 sons found alive

The three sons and father that have been missing up in Butte County were found today, alive! I wonder if they ever got their Christmas tree, which is why they became lost in the first place.

A local searcher and his dog were up there helping, Mike is interviewed in this clip with Suzie, his search dog. Mike & Suzie are terrific searching personnel!

Hot Air Ballon

Mom is out getting a pedicure and Boonie and I are hanging out while Caden gets some much needed sleep. This past week we saw smiles, heard gas, saw the Doctor, tried a new grilled cheese sandwich and saw some Meteors. So as I write this, my son is a few feet from me in his crib tooting away... toot-toot-tooooooooot! LOL

Poo poo Caden has lots of gas and he always has since he was born, no thanks to his parents but it has been on a rise of discomfort for him of late. Infant Gas they call it and it was suggested by the Dr. that he start taking Mylicon after each feeding to help break down the gas bubbles... I mean "Infant Gas" bubbles. ;) So far no huge results and that is because he has not received it consistently after each feeding. But today he seems to be passing very easily in comparison to the past few days. I think what is also helping him is we are concentrating on his burping, meaning we are burping him before he feeds (which we were not) and after (we were) and doing it long enough to get some results. I really think the two (Mylicon & Burping process) are working for him.

Brb, need to defrost some breast milk....ok, I'm back.

Caden started smiling this week! Yes, actual smiles and they weren't related to his gas ;) As I arrived home one day from work, I believe it was Monday, Catherine was telling me how little sleep she had during the night due to Caden being awake from his gas and even throughout the day he was fussing and she was unable to get any of he tasks done. Off to walk Boonie I did and when I returned home all I heard was laughter as I opened the door to let Boonie in. Catherine was as joyous as I have ever seen her. She proclaimed, "Caden is smiling and laughing!" and that was music to my ears. Seeing her lifted up from his reactions was tremendous! Catherine said she was talking to him and he just started smiling back and her and making these little laughs. Of course this happened the entire time Boonie and I were on a walk and as soon as I sat down next to them, nada. So I spent the week hearing how Caden smiled for Mom one day or that day until this morning. While preparing to change Cadens' diaper he smiled for me! Ah the sight was very pleasing. :) He is so darn cute!

OK I need to feed him as he is starting to wake, which works out perfect as my laptop battery needs some charging. I'll continue later today or late tonight after Randal and Micheles' Christmas party.

meteor night?

last night into this noting was to be our most sought out meteor shower due to its' position and clearity. Yet I only saw four; one was long and dim and three were very dim and short.

Cold & windy search

4am, just got home from a call out around midnight. Subject not found. The temperature is 49 degree's and very windy. At least this time

I wasn't in the creek like I was on the last search but I did get wet. My water packs' nipple snapped and lost most of my water down my jacket and pants. The water mark looked as if I pee'd on myself.
6:30am update. Subject found alive. Sweet!

Darn proud to be here!

After placing some Christmas lights in our kitchen window I decided to pour us a glass of wine and update the blog. Caden is sound asleep and Boonie is pacing between the kitchen, where we are, and Caden's room. I ask my wife what she would like me to blog about tonight, her response was, and I kid you not; "Ok, we have the cutest little baby". Enough said! :)

The weekend was very relaxing, fun and filled with new experiences. Saturday we headed up to the Santa Cruz mountains (Cath, Caden, Boone, Nik, Kyausha and Salah) for our traditional Christmas tree masacre... I mean tree cutting. Boone was off leash and following us down the hill into the tree farm and he was loving it, smelling every thing he could smell along the way. Caden, he was resting in his infant car seat tucked under my arm and we made our way through the tree's looking for that "just right" tree to bring home. Our perfect tree is one that represent a wild grown fern and not one of those perfectly symmetrical "wannabe" tree from a Target or Lucky's parking lot. Nik has a target parking lot tree ;) I am so full of BS tonight that's it's killin me and my wife is about to kill me too ;)

Sunday we awoke knowing full well what our goal was, to have Caden feed from his first bottle. Yes it is that time already for him to take the next step in the feeding evolution.....the Bottle. We went into this with an expectation that he would be fussy about that and we know better to have expectations about something we have never done before. I sat down in our big comfy chair with Caden sitting up in my right arm and Catherine gave me some tips as to how to proceed and what to expect from Caden when he feeds. Next thing we know he is off sucking down a bottle and half which was about 3 ounces. He fussed not one bit.

Sitting in the chair feeding my son was probably one of the best things I have ever done on my life. I can add this to a few choice things in my life that I dreamed of and actually got to act on that revolve around keywords like "Tube!" "3 pointer at the buzzer" "SR11" "Sack!" "Goal!" "Save!" "10 hour sole hike" "The Cup!" "I passed?" and now I can this to the list "I have a son and I am darn proud to be here!!!"

Tuesday night, tonight, I fed Caden again and once again he ate like a champ taking in 4 ounces. Geesh that boy sure is cute.

A few items to note and then I need to get some sleep. Caden turned 6 weeks young this past Sunday morning. Boone sleeps as often as he can next to Caden. And yes, biscotti tastes good dipped on white wine too :)

A cold 38 degree's

Last night Caden slept from his crib, in his own room. He did great! While we did, just ok. It was strange not having him in our room but he appears to sleep better in his crib, versus the pack-n-play.

Today we are heading to the mountains to cut down our Christmas Tree.... yee-haw! But for now Boonie and I must get back in the house, too cold to be running for too much longer in the park.
