January Mornings

Morning Sierra Blue and Sailor take warning sky
Forty degree temperatures great day for a run, wish it was mine
Peacefully, Boonie is walking me, glad to be
Morning sausage and bacon fill the air, wish it was mine
Beautiful son sleeping with peace and love, glad to be

My first spontaneous poem to my son, glad it is mine

Uncle Fester

Hanging out in his crib, Caden is, waiting to be picked up and his day
to start.
It's been a long week at work and, we're only two days into it!
Trying to finish too many tasks before I take my six week Family
Leave, starting next week, is becoming a huge chore. Must keep it
simple, I must. Got to be the Vdub!
One of those tasks was getting my laptop back online after a crash.
Happy to report that after three days I am back with every application
up and running. I love reformatting Windows every six to twelve months
as it humms so much faster.

Cold...brrrr..cold

Ok, remember when I was saying how cold it was one morning and that it
should be snowing (oh, I think I meant to blog that but I didn't) well
here's a view of the snow that fell in the hills here. Courtesy of NBC
Chan 11.

Caden - darn cute boy!

Caden has now reached 14.5 lbs! And Daddy Tony lost the bet to Lady
Catherine and I now owe her a dinner :)

Test from iPhone

Running a test posting from my iPhone

Sent via my way cool & sexy iPhone :)

/update/ now that posting from my iPhone works, I'll continue posting pictures from the iphone directly to blogger. What this means to you as the viewer, you no longer have to access Flickr to see the daily snap shots. Sweet Blogger is!

afternoon stroll

so nice outside that we went for a quick stroll around the neighborhood. I really like getting Caden out or some natural sun light as I beleive it is very important for his skin, not to mention the fresh air and new sounds are both good for him.

Here is a snap shot of Caden going down for a nap after the walk. Notice he now does not look sleepy.

pic posting test

let's see if this worked, here is a Boonie pic taken from this morning

A Collage Of Memories

I was viewing my old Flickr account and was surprised and happy to see some old and fun pictures. I have shared a collage of them and hope you'll enjoy the memories with me. I would say these dates back to 2002 to 2005... I think.

I was visiting Flickr to understand what options I have to post pictures from my iPhone. My goal is to post an iPhone taken picture and then blog about it. Currently Google does not have such an option. :( We'll see what comes of my research and hopefully more pictures of Caden will be posting quicker than they have been. So what that looks like is, instead of me uploading picture on Saturday or Sunday early mornings, I could post them as I take them during the week. Stay tuned.

Video Star

I finally figured out how to post a movie from our camera to Blogger & Picasa. Essentially you could not do it with the old picasa version b/c they didn't accept movies and I didn't want to post youtube. But now picasa allows <100mb video's and I have posted one from Day 7th after just receiving a bath.

(further into the night) Second video posted... of Caden on his second day after birth.
Ok I have this all figure out now and maybe NOW I should get some sleep as it's late, 1am and I need to wake up in 4 hours. Anyhow, here is a video of Caden on his second day after birth, still at the hospital and just hanging out in his bed.

The Bridge

As sad as it might be, the fact is or I should say, the facts are in the movie; The Bridge. The Bridge(wiki), directed, produced and written by Eric Steel (I believe) has rekindled the effort to place barriers of some sort on the bridge in the hopes preventing jumpers. Although I would love nothing more than to see the stop to suicide I don't know if this is a smart move. Maybe placing undercover "protectors", people that search out would be jumpers in the hopes of stopping them. Granted a percentage would slip through but I think a majority of them would stop or be stopped.

BTW, the creation and talent that went into writing the web site creation, is speculator! Kudos's to you.

You can watch the movie via your traditional rental avenues or watch it online at moviesfoundonline.

netflix & sdk's

Steve Jobs keynote is today at macworld in the city (sf) with lots of big news expected. Some of that news evolving on the iPhone like the i/f update w/1.1.3 and announcements of new widgets through SDK's. I heard rumor that he might speak about Apple providing rentals (movies, etc) via iTunes (& iPhone) which could threaten Netflix.

MidMorning Run

Ran 2.32 in 22.05 (9.50/m)and it felt good to be out running. It's been about three weeks since I put on my running shoes and probably another 4 weeks prior to that run. Time to get back in shape as I feel the weight coming back on. Time to drop the salsa and chips for pretzels for the carbs and salt and minus all the other crap-o-la. But do I get off the beer or the wine or both? Two years ago I dropped the beer for wine and lost weight fast though I was dripping heavy ales at that time. Maybe if I go with Bud or Coors Light I won't see the weight continue to rise but will get that nice taste of beer after a long day and keep the calories low. Less sugar compared to wine too.

Ran to a mix of Rock music from the 70's to 2000. Temp is a warm 46 degree's and could have worn a short sleeve instead of my winter long sleeve. My feet at burning just a bit and that could be b/c I haven't run in a long time and/or my shoes need replacement.

Caden Jan 08

Here are some really cute photo's of my son!

Mavericks pictures

No tow-ins today, surf was in the 20 to 30 foot range. A tow-in is where a wave is so large it is impossible to catch it by just paddling for it as one normally would. To assist in catching a wave a surfer would be towed by a jet ski until he reaches the speed to stand and ride the wave, usually way before it actually breaks. Typically this is used on waves in the 40+ foot range. Something you would see at Jaws in Maui, some years at Mavericks in CA, some place in France that I can't recall it's name, the Cape in South Africa and even at times at Waimea in Hawaii. Maybe we'll see a contest in "San Diego" one year.

These pictures are live screen shots on my laptop as I watched the live contest stream to my laptop from the beach. Gotta love it :)

Mavericks is a GO!

The Mavericks Surf contest is going on this morning. Surf is not too big in comparison to other years but none the less the guys are out there. Loving technology too, watching it live online while 45min down the road at home with my son. :) Will post some live cam shots later when Caden goes to sleep.
