Simply a nice profile of Caden.

When Cath gave him a cracker and he took a bite, he left behind a
perfect little bite mark in the cracker. I love it!

Asking Cath to take a photo, and we all know how hard it can be to
take a steady photo of an active toddler, she did a fantastic job. :)

12.16.2008

Caden enjoying a sandwich at Erik's Deli.
We took a break from running some chores and sat down for some yummy,
all natural, healthy and large sized sandwiches.

First Hair Cut

Caden had his first hair cut this morning. No, it wasn't an Uncle Bernie style cut ;) it was the real deal. He did fantastic!! Although I really wanted to see him keep his long hair and curls, I lost out. Catherine tells me the curls will come back. ;) Look for the pictures and video some time this week.

12.09.2008

These days if something is not ties down in Cadens' bed, it is thrown
over the side to the floor. Paci, blanket, guard rails and any toy you
give him at 6am. Over the side! :) LOL

Caden's new shoes

Yesterday we bought Caden's first pair of shoes! It was very fun and exciting experience and Caden seems to love them.

When he first stood with the shoes on, he looked down at them, twice, it was so cute the way he did this. I didn't see but apparently he made a funny facial expression at the time too.

WoooHoooo!!! :)

11.04.2008

I am totally in the voting spirit this year.

Cath and I enjoyed some wine last night while trying to figure out
which Propositions and Measures we'd be voting for.

To top it off, I found a great picture to compliment that joy. By
using this picture as wallpaper on my iPhone.
For those non-iPhone users, yes, I can use wallpaper :)

Hockey Generations?

I thought this was a cute picture of Caden and found it interesting that it shows Uncle Ethan and I in the background whist Caden wears his new Sharks sweatshirt. You see, Ethan and I met (over 6 years ago) while playing on the same hockey team. Little did we know that we worked for the same company at the time, actually working on the same floor of each other. Here we are years later celebrating Caden's first year birthday and Ethan gives him an awesome hockey sweatshirt. Will Caden be the next generation in the family to play hockey? :)   [click the photo to enlarge it]

iPhone fun

Having fun customizing my iPhone during some downtime. Hence why u
haven't been on FB as much lately.

Using a keyboard layout that mimics the MacBook.
Fonts changed from Helvitica(sp) to Neo Sans.
Status Notifier shows keys system and app updates on the status bar.
Email arrived icon showing here. I really like the silent ringer
notified!

Most enjoyable change was removing the AT&T logo and putting my name
on the status bar.

3 years and it's just the start!

Three years ago today, Catherine married me!

Hard to beleive that just 5 years ago we met and shared so much love and happiness together which continues each morning we awake next to each other.

The picture is of my proposal to her on the top of HalfDome in Yosemite National Park. After hiking up to the top at 8800 feet it was clear that we were meant for each other. We knew prior to that, but going backpacking to the back area of Yosemite for her first time then taking the hike to the top of the Dome knowing she is afraid of heights, is an amazing and trusting feat. I have always said that the sky is NOT the limit and we have proved that with many accomplishments in our life and our relationship.

I still recall the day I stood in the kitchen at the 411, nervous, worried and scared as Nik handed me the phone, to ask her Dad for the permission to marry Catherine. When he said "Yes" I felt my knee's just give out from the pressure releasing and yes of course the tears were flowing, flowing with happiness! Oh what a day that was! :)

Just over a year later I am was sitting in my hotel room all dressed and ready for the alter. Was I looking ok for her? Did I fit in the tux ok? Was my hair ok? I need another beer. These were all just nerves, waiting, just waiting for the moment to see her come through those Church doors in her dress... coming through those doors for me. Me! For US!

Happy Anniversary Sweetheart. I love and adore you and ecstatic to be your husband.

1 year... already!

Last year at this time I was probably standing alongside Caden has he received his first exam in the Hospital Babyward. He was born at 11:24am, just over 1 year and hour and half hours ago.

That was an amazing day and emotional hours prior to his delivery. It was a sunny fall type day for California, bright sun and a breeze with just the right chill. We were in that room for what felt like days on end. In the end I walked away with a healthy new Mom and son and I couldn't have asked for anything else in life. I was all smiles from ear to ear walking on cloud nine.

Caden has come along way from that 7lbs and 21" as today he weighs in around 24lbs and is well over 30" tall. Well above the 80 percentile for his young age. He now uses sign language to communicate with us (more and all-done) along with pronouncing words such as "Mamma", "Daaaaad" and "up".

Catherine and I have seen some tough days in the past trying to adapt to the new life style and we have seen some truly beautiful days of bliss. All in all we have worked together to make it past those tough times and have learned more of and about each other.

Would we do it again? Hell yes! :)

Lolo filter with Caden

This filter is called "Lolo" and thought fitting to the silly picture of Caden. :)

Both filters have a white border that is not showing on the blog due to the white background. It added to the affect but I think you can see the color hue difference in these.   [click the photo to enlarge it]

Playing with photo filters

Found a nice app that can add effects to your photo's for the iPhone. In this picture I added the "1974" filter. Sure looks like a photo's from a camera in those days. What were they called, those slim one's that fit into your pocket?   [click the photo to enlarge it]

Taken a nap at daycare. He looks cute in the way he is sleeping on his
arm.
He is snoring a bit too :)

According to L.A. Times, the CHP has issued close to 20,000 tickets for people talking on their phones while driving without using a hands free device since July 1st. That is roughly 230 citations a day. It doesn't include local PD.

The only way to operate the iPhone ;)
Notice the video's apps, the customized views (icons, paper & fonts)
and the terminal. With terminal I can get into the phones internal
operating system and make my own changes. Sweet iPhone!

Sad and ill boy:(

He looks as he sounds. Poor guy just can't get a break. Another Dr.
visit this morning to address his continuing ear infection. Now it
appears he might actually have a sinus affection along with the ear
infection. He came home with a stronger medicine subscription and
hopefully he'll feel better soon.

Movie problems

There appears to be a problem viewing the movies with Internet Explorer. Some people see the movies while some don't. Those that don't either see an outlines box or nothing at all (a large blank screen area).

I am researching what the problem is. If you are having problems, please email me (tonymazur at gmail.com) so that I can tell you how to fix it once I get it resolved.

Thanks, T

Goofing Around (Holee Wud - Aug 22 08)

This was taken one Friday when Caden and I escaped the confines of the house. We work from home on Friday's with Caden to save costs on schooling for him. $1300 a month for school, I wish I could work at home more often with him! Anyhow, we were at the park filming this and I labeled this "Goofing Around" because that is exactly what we were doing, goofing around together. :) As you see Caden kicking his legs and waving his hands, this means he is excited/happy.   [to watch the movie, click the play button below the picture]

In Love

After editing and posting this last movie of Caden (self-leaning), I can't help to notice that opening picture of the movie. There I see Caden leaning on the table while Catherine is resting her head to the side and watching him, more like adoring him :) And I am adoring this picture of them. Ah man, my heart stops when I watch these two beautiful souls interact with each other. :)

It is quite amazing to observe the different interactions between your son and yourself versus that you see of his interactions with my wife. Oh, and of course the difference seen with Boone! ;) I'll have to blog more about this later, for now I need to post three more movies.

Caden self-leaning (Holee Wud - Aug 22 08)

In this, now older movie, we see Caden leaning on the table for the first time on his own. As you've read from a recent update, Caden has now started to stand on his own!   [click the play button below the picture to start the movie]

Update on Cadens' ear infection

Caden broke his fever yesterday and we headed to the beach for 2 hours. It was beautiful out! He enjoyed watching the seagulls, pelicans, surfers, the waves and of course the people. He is such a people watcher :)

Caden started to get fussy, to the point that we didn't know what was wrong or what he wanted. Catherine was fearing the worst and we headed home and once there she checked his temperature and she was correct, his fever had come back and spiked to 103. I guess the beach excited him ;)

A quick bath and supper and he was put to bed. He was up a few times last night and at 5:30am his temperature is back down to 98.

Sweetness!

9.13.2008

Caden update

Good morning! Caden broke his fever this morning which is very exciting for three reasons. One, Caden is on his way to feeling better. Two, we get our sleep back and lastly, we get our sleep back ;)

Caden picked up this ear infection (this time affecting both ears compared to July where only one ear was affected) and his temperature rose on Thursday afternoon to 102. Last night around 2am it dropped to 98.

For a couple days we thought he might also have Pink Eye as he was rubbing his eyes and they were very red and watery. But as you know those are similar symptoms to the Ear Infection. Anyhow the fever is gone and he looks much better.

Caden has also been standing more and more on his own! Although the standing stints only last a few seconds it is still very fun to watch. Very very exciting!

Yesterday was tough for us as we had little to no sleep, work was busy and Caden needed much attention. But as Father Jim says, "Never Give Up" and we didn't with our patience with each other. Cath and I made it out of those woods and today we're doing much better.

No new changes on the home sale. We had a buyer that decided to step away while we were in the contract signing stages. This is where you agree to sell and they arrange a home inspection. So the home remains on the market with all the others and little to no showings. :( As we drove home from our local grocery store we counted 6 homes for sale of a distance less than a mile. That's a lot!

Aunty Nik gave us a date night on Thursday night which was awesome of her! Although it was tough to leave knowing the Caden was not feeling well we took the chance of leaving knowing that we were just a few miles from the house and could get back if needed. Instead of a typical date night of a movie and dinner we instead did some grocery shopping and grabbed a dinner. It was nice to visit TJ's on a Thursday instead of Friday as it would have been very tough with Caden being sick. We try hard not to shop on the weekend allowing us more time together, the four of us, to do work around the house or more time in the park together. So visiting TJ's together without Caden was weird. For a few seconds there we both felt as if we didn't have a child at home because this was our first time sole shopping, shopping without Caden. It was also strange to walk through the isles and browse and hold hands without having to rush, or to arrive there without throw up on your shirt, or having to rush because Caden is due for a nap, all those things. It was nice, we enjoyed it.... thank you Nik! :)

I've been working out the video process with my iPhone and soon I'll be able to have his video's posted in a quick manner.

I have a couple pictures of Caden playing with bubbles, here.

iTunes 8 - Genius not so smart

After reading about iTunes 8 new feature called Genius I couldn't wait to try it. Apple describes it as ".. a brilliant way to create perfect play lists. Play a song, click the Genius button, and iTunes creates a play list of other songs from your library that go great together..".

Well it doesn't. It doesn't do it very well. After updating Genius after the 8.0 install I loaded up the Rolling Stones and asked "Genius" to show me relevant songs. It failed and iTunes instructed me to update Genius and try again, if that failed then try another song from that artist. After updating Genius twice and picking three more Rolling Stone songs nothing worked.

I don't give up very easily so I loaded up Barry Manilows' It's A Miracle (as I type this CJ is IMing me saying "so, we need to talk... Barry Manilow?" LOL) and Genius worked. But how in the world does it match Barry with INXS, Marshall Crenshaw, Smash Mouth and even more so.. with Judas Priest!!?? Ah I think there is a problem here ;)

iPhone winpwn'd then accessed

Sweetness is being able to get into your cell phone, pull off the video you just took and posting it online. Or just browsing and reading your file system. Either way it is fun fun fun and I was doing it tonight on the iPhone.

It was very simple. I jailbroke the phone with Winpwn, the loaded OpenSSH onto my iPhone, then connected to it via my laptop running XP with WinSCP and SSH. Bam! I was browsing my files in seconds.

In fact, I took this video from my phone as I was in the phone moving around and reading files.

Caden's first hike

Aunt Nikki took these pictures during our hike last weekend to Quicksilver park.

A mornings walk

Each Saturday and Sunday we go for a walk to the park together as a Family. It was a bit chilly at 59 degree's with a heavier than normal wind. At this time of the season, this is cold esp. when you consider it will be at least 21 degree's warmer this afternoon. This mornings weather was something you would experience in San Francisco as their typical summers are cold and foggy. [click the photo to enlarge it]

Chambers? Yes, Chambers

There is a tradition of sorts over at Cisco in which John Chambers
takes employees out for breakfast for their birthday. Catherine is one
of them this morning!
Sure there are about 300 other Sept birthday employees joining her,
but none the less, breakfast with "John". :)

This picture was taken on a journey not long ago when two people were
just starting off their new lives, together.
A spontaneous journey to the North. Talking of future goals and
hopes. One of those came true, Caden.

Taking a tough fall

He is a tough boy, and tough boys bounce back!
Caden took a fall at school yesterday while standing (leaning) against
a child wall in the classroom. As he was pivoting himself to look in
another direction he fell and hit his chin on the floor, pushing his
bottom three teeth up into top gums. He bled a lot and it scared the
bejesus out of me. Trying to keep a calm look to me, all I kept
thinking was he'll need stitches. But as I got a good look at him I
realized my fears were not warranted. He cried and I consoled him. In
a short time he was fine and even cracked a smile :)
Love that boy, I do!

Boys out for a walk

Out for our morning walk we are.
Caden is making noises that sound like a car starting it's engine;
"zzggrrrrrr, zzzggrrrrr". He does this over and over. I've never heard
him pronounce this.

Something catchy

I was up the other night waiting to locate a water leak in the
sprinkler system. That is when I took this snapshot of our yard.
There is something catchy about this picture. Something that draws me
to it, maybe it is the lighting? I don't know.
Anyhow, the leak was spotted and I identified the zone that was
surfacing that water. No more wasted water now.

Yee-haw!

Yellow Dim Light

Yellow Dim Light I can not see but you might Growing teeth what a plight Caressing walls down the flight You cast shadows in the night He is a beautiful sight Yellow Dim Light

I was inspired by my son at 3:30am this morning as I fed him during his teething turmoil. It is a beautiful thing to be looking down on your child in the middle of night while the town sleeps. I guess words can not explain such a sight but I tried with this poem.

Teeth, teeth & more teeth

It appears that Caden has decided to bring four teeth, not two, into his world. He has been fussing for a few days, peaking today with a small fever (100 degrees). We threw on the A/C in the hopes it would help him get a good sound sleep and it appears to have helped. He's been asleep for 30 min with no fuss after putting him down 2 1/2 hrs ago.

Three days ago Caden approached our stairs and tried to climb the first step. Yesterday he made his first steps up the stairs and Aunt Nik's house. Hours later at home he climbed the entire stair case. And he was giggling the entire time!

7.24.2008

Caden's 9 month appointment

Caden had his 9 month Dr. appointment this week and he is doing great! He now weighs in at 22.9 lbs and is 49" long. Though he is still far above average in both categories he is starting to put on less weigh as he continues his crawling adventures. I just love how he giggles as he crawls around the house.... too funny!

It also appears that Caden has two more teeth coming in, his Lateral Incisors. You can see the whiteness pressing up against his gums as of two days ago. Rightly so he has been in some pain and stirring throughout the night. But overall he is doing good.

Zac and his Adventures

Lately I've been following a young mans quest to sail across the sea's. Zac might be the youngest person to ever cross the world in a sail boat and you can follow his adventure via his blog. What is also fun about his adventure is his ability to utilize technology on his trip. Using Google Earth to track his locations, using solar panels to assist his travels and the use of a Satelite phone to stay in touch with his Parents and his electrician in North Carolina.

Zac left Hawaii a few days ago and is heading toward Majuro Island. In the middle of the Pacific toward Australia.

Recently Zac talks about planning his trip to avoid Pirates. Yes I did say Pirates. Modern day Pirates if you didn't know exist everywhere but for the most part are out of Indonesia. I have read in the past about these through many different sources and it's interesting to see there is a web site that tracks the crimes;Piracy Attack Maps.

wowzers!

10 o'clock at night and it is 80 degree's!

7.08.2008

Caden is one very cute boy!

This is a photo of Caden being silly with Catherine in the back seat of the car on our way home from visiting Mike & Jill. Caden loved seeing and playing with his cousins.

We were able to see the Indians fire as it burned through a valley toward Greenfield. That's a long way from where it started. There is a high pressure system that is expected to remain here for at least a week. This will bring warn dry weather and no onshore cool winds which will make fighting a fire of this size that much more difficult.

Back to Caden. He has started crawling! Catherine noticed it last week though I saw it for the first time on Sunday. At this point he is moving quick but what is even cuter is that he loudly giggles as he is crawling away! Very cute.

6.28.2008

Today marks the day Caden has started holding his bottle on his own.

He as also broken out with a skin rash. It starts off as a large hide
then turns to a larger area of red. The rash comes and goes quickly
across his limbs and face. Not his tummy nor back.

His fever is gone and still having wet BM's. We'll continue with
Pedialyte but will reintroduce rice cereal tonight (with water instead
of milk).

As for us, we are hanging in there. :)

Caden is starting to look better

It's 4am and Caden woke up for the first time all night. Unlike the previous nights at every three hours. He still had a Wet BM but his rash is looking better, now using Butt Paste, and his temperature has leveled off.

We moved him off the BRAT diet for a more simple approach for his bowels, Pedialyte. We'll continue this approach into today (Sat) and monitor him for changes. If his BM stays wet we'll need to have a blood test performed to see if there is something else bothering him and maybe place him on an IV. If his BM hardens then we are on the right track and will reintroduce carbs to him at a slow pace.

6.27.2008

Roy and Barb had a close call with one of the lightning fires last
Sat. A day or two after we moved some of their belongings to the new
house a fire started at one of the wineries after a weird lightning
storm. The fire spread south with the wind and burned over the hill
and down to their back fence.
I guess that is one way of being welcomed to the new neighborhood!

Caden's first fever

Caden had a fever last night and had bowel movements every three
hours. He has the worst diaper rash I have ever seen. It was a long
night and the same for today. Given he has had a wet BM for a few
days, we'll be seeing the Dr. this afternoon to see what we can do. We
have already taken him off veggies and fruit and going with the "BRAT"
diet, minus the "toast".

Catherines surgery on her wrist went well on Monday buy she is
feeling a lot of pain today.

I on the other hand have a sinus infection.

We're all a mess with the exception of Boone!

Safeway overcharging

Today on Consumer Action Line it is stated that Safeway has been overcharging customers and now paying a fine for this practice. Here is the story:

"Look for new signs to be posted at the checkout counters of Safeway stores offering customers $5 when the registers ring up the wrong price. The company will also pay $2.7 million in civil penalties and investigation costs. Safeway is not the only store plagued with overcharging. Watch your receipts carefully. I have been over charged more than once at Target and Lucky. The problem stems from improper or delayed updating of prices in the computer systems that feed the checkout scanners. If you are overcharged, report it to your local county weights and measures. The hotline number in Santa Clara County is (866) 722-6637. By reporting overcharges, you become part of the solution to this widespread problem." main link

Caden & Patrick (Caden's best friend) hanging out at school together.
Caden might be the class clown. Last week he got in trouble during
"circle time" b/c he was "distracting" Patrick. Circle time is reading
time in a circle. LOL

6.22.2008

Nice day to go reppeling yesterday. Got off the mountain just as the
rain and lightning arrived.

Weekend round up

Caden turned 8 months in Sat. Spend a couple days helping Barb & Roy move to their new home. We had a quick sun shower yesterday with thunder which was a lot of fun but this storm brought in lightning with it. California acquired 100 new wild land fires because of it. I can't tell if there are any new fires by us but the morning smells of smoldering fire which could be from any of the previous three we had in the last month.

Caden appears to be working on breaking through his two top teeth! His saliva has increased, similar to when his bottom two teeth came in. He also appears to have more pain, similar to but not exactly like he did with his first teeth. Good for him.

PowerPoint - multiple instances

PowerPoint (PPT) is a single instance app but you can fake it out with IE. Single instance meaning you can only open one window of PPT but you can access multiple slides in that window. Unlike Excel or Word you can have many windows opened showing different sheets or docs. Having two instances of PPT running allows you to easily compare to slides side-by-side.

To access multiple instances of PPT follow either step;

      Option 1 (preferred)
    1. locate your PPT file from Explorer folder

New app, not for the iPhone this time

As seen in my last two picture postings, I found a new app that allows you to add comic word ballons to a picture. Way cool app! called "SuperLame!".

Caden in the grass

Trying to give Mom some extra time to herself, Caden decided to take me to the park on Sunday.

He has been to the park many many times before but I think this was the first time he sat in the grass without a blanket underneath him. He appeared to love it! He moved his hands through the grass, constantly squeezing it, pulling it and drooling on it. :O
