[ Golfing with Lions ]  I only posted this b/c it shows that cats follow their prey in order to eat. Logical, yes? Well what is interesting about these kills in Pacific Grove is that they found a deer feed off the 18th hole of Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course . So theoretically speaking, a cat hunting deer that close to the course, we will hear reports of lion sightings by early morning golfers.

[ Runners Bid ]  I received my runners bib number: 1017. YEA! So the marathon is in July of 2006. I have 6 recommended months of training. God help Catherine during those six months! That is all in good fun, I love the fact that my wife supports me 100% in this adventure!! I love you Sweety!

[ SFM! ]  As most of you know I have never run a marathon. Prior to meeting Catherine, one of my goals was to run one prior to reaching the age of 65. It was just another adventure that I wanted to experience in my life but at that time I had so many other things I wanted to do first. Through one of our many conversation this topic came up. I'm sure the topic surfaced during our first hike together, subsequently our first date, Catherine was amazed that I was waiting so long to run a marathon. During this time frame Cath was training to run her first marathon, The Honolulu Marathon.

Well, after I got back into running three years ago I have run a 5k, three 10k's and two 1/2 marathons and I now feel the time has come. This morning I have committed myself to running my first full marathon, The San Francisco Marathon!!!

I have asked my sister in-law to train me and she has agreed. Thank you Nichole! Nichole is a great runner and coach. She took on running on her first marathon with her sister two years ago at the same Honolulu Marathon and this year Nik is coaching the South Bay AIDs Marathon team. Nik and Salah (her boyfriend) are in HI right now as Nik is preparing her team to run their first marathon. We are very happy for this huge, successful endeavor that Nik has taken on for herself! You go girl! So once Nik is back, my training program will be creating and the pain, suffering, excitement and happiness will be created. I have asked a buddy of mine to run it with me, and has Rich agreed! So Nik has her hands and feet full with both of us. It will be a success!

We are contemplating the creation of a documentary, the life of a first time marathoner. Last week when Nik completed her 4th marathon I had the video camera out and was asking her questions, and I thought to myself, how cool to "interview" her and our running friends after their marathons as a keep sake. As I was "interviewing" Nik she commented it was like a documentary. Bingo! What a concept, let's do it! [ Update on Whiting Ranch attack ]  Update on Mark Jeffrey Reynolds death from a Mtn Lion attack in Orange County. As you recall, Mark was the source of media on Jan 8th 2004 when it was presumed he was attacked and killed by a Mtn Lion while Mtn Biking in the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. His autopsy came back and apparently stated he was already dispatched before the lion feed on him. At the time of the feeding, as you recall, is when Anne Hjelle of Mission Viejo was riding the same trail and area when she was attacked. Luckily she survived the attack with the help of her riding partner and two other bikers. Mark would have been the 6th person dispatched by a Mtn Lion in CA since records started in 1890.

[ Update on Mtn Madonna Lion ]  Last month I noted a Mtn Madonna Lion that was killing some special deer. The article talked of ways the Rangers were looking to keep her out. Some failed, like the cutting back of tree access, the one's she was using to get over the fence that was protecting the deer. One such method was to electrify the fence and barbwire it. While placing the barbwire on the fence one of the Rangers fell and broke his collar bone. Hope he is doing well.

[ Not just the horror movie ]  While searching for an archived document, I came across this piece of information about our local theater.... "San Jose - AMC Saratoga 14 - Poltergeist/Presence very strong in this 14 screen multiplex. House Lights flicker on & off, muffled laughter/whispers, also arm rests lower & raise themselves up of their own accord, especially in theatre 5. Also Workers report in the projection booth a shadowy figure can be glimpsed, & lurks around projector number 5." The same note can be read here too. I can't recall ever seeing a movie in #5... nuts!
