[ thoughts ]
Friday I had my first successful Search & Rescue mission. Success was when I located our subject. Success we could assist his family with closure and allow them to move on....
If you ever find yourself being rescued from a State Park or the surrounding mountains, look up and smile, because you are in good hands with the SCCSSAR team :)

[ lion attacks and sightings ]
This story of a Lion being trapped and killed because of an irresponsible farmer sounds very similar to exerts I read in a book in which Colorado had the same concerns. City folk brought their city attitude into the hills.
And so Californians are opting to take the wild into their own hands by trying legalize mountain lion hunting, proposed by Assemblyman Bill Maze.
Some Lion footprints were found by the Humboldt State University residence hall. Maybe Palo Alto transferred their middle school preying lion up to HS. It's a joke ;)
Today's population in California is estimated in the ranges between 4,000-6,000. Doesn't sound like too many, considering we are prime mtn lion country.
[ intel brings me a smile ]
Now this is some kewl shit. Intel brings something no other chip can and yet neither can any OS at this time ;)

Yesterday evening I was attending a SAR exercise at Santa Teresa CP and think I came across Mtn Lion scat. Sorry, no pictures of this one, unlike the past.
[ nhlpa "L"osers ]
You know them, those guys that are asking for more money. Those guys that are probably ranked as the 5th sport in the America's. Those guys that want as much money as our top athletes in baseball and basketball. Those guys that don't give a hoot about how much the average fan has to shell out to view their game on TV... that's right, special cable access just to view them b/c the major networks won't pick them up. Ha, so where is you $$$ coming from? Less and less ppl are watching you live b/c the tickets are more expensive than baseball. For less money I can watch a baseball game that last twice as long, in the sun and better views in case the game gets boring. Not hockey, you freeze your bum off watching it live, you get bored, well that's not your problem, eh? Hey, those guys, they've decided to meet again with the NHL board of governors to come to some agreement to keep their -high priced paid by the fan sport- alive as all their players are skating over to Europe to play.

[ don't snoop me ]
Ciphire came out with a cool encryption application that will protect your existing email client. Ciphire Mail uses only well-known standard cryptographic algorithms including RSA, AES, Twofish, or SHA for its cryptographic operations. It uses 2048-bit keys for asymmetric algorithms and 256-bit keys for symmetric algorithms. I think this is great but the only gotchya is that not everybody uses this nor has the reason to. Really, how many ppl are out there sniffing your emails? I can see this being useful at airports or any other public transport or WiFi site. But then again the ppl receiving your emails from these public sites of concern would need the app to decrypt your email.

[ lions everywhere ]
Here are a few recent
sightings, like the Antioch area and again in Palo Alto, but this time one of the two sightings was on the west side of 280 and of course the normal sighting by the school. Hello ppl, get a clue! Your kids are being cased by a lion! Another read on the same story. Everyone picked up this story.
side topic:An outdoor good read
[ easier ride home ]
Ever pull onto the dreeway or highway to find it's backed up and how you should have taken that last exit or some other route. I do this all the time! I get into the Tahoe, put on KQED and zone out. But now I get road updates so that I can get home at a decent hour.

[ A class for the student? ]
School. Lecture. The dilemma to keep up with the lecturer.
Remember how hard it was to take lecture notes and still be at pace with the teacher or your classmates? Sure you can ask the teacher to slow down or repeat themselves but how long is that teachers patience for a pupil asking such each day, each class? Not long I say. I always heard the comments of "slow poke" from classmates or teachers saying "again!?" or "does [name omitted] need to take notes for you?" or "you can purchase a recorder at the campus library" and the famous, "Why can't you keep up like the rest of the class?"
ARGH!
Well those days are over my fans. Today with technology we have Silicon Chalk. This application kicks ass! Not only does it broadcast the lecture and the slides and audio to the students but it allows the students write notes on the laptop and the application will time synch those notes to the time of the lecture! Yes, did you catch that!? The application records the lecture to your hard drive for later play back!!!
HOLY $^%&*#* SHIT! I FREAKIN LOVE YOU Mr Inventor... this beer is for you!

For all you Hockey fans out there, here is a funny, sad but true song that holds true to many of our feelings.
If you can't listen for any reason, here are the lyrics.
