[ Oakland Lion cases school yard ]
Another lion sight at a school in Oakland Hills but not confirmed.
The more and more I read "" by the more I realize California, as a whole, is not prepared to manage Mountain Lions. The State has shown no progression with preparing local authorities in removing (either through death or transplant) Lions from sensitive areas. I agree that allowing the State to issue Lion hunting tags is a start but it should not stop there. Rangers and Police need to be equipped with tranquilizer capable of managing a large cat. Proper cat transportation to outlying areas is required. Education to people of the average character of Lions. What they are are afraid of and what not. What I mean is if dogs are safe, so are the children. History shows us that once a cat takes down a dog it has crossed the line in to which humans are next and it is a very very small step for the cat. Prior to that, there should not be, for the most part, a worry. But always be aware. Situation awareness is key.
